Volvo released in April 2010 the new FMX heavy truck model. The Volvo FMX is built tough in order to successfully take on the hardest of tasks in a construction site. With both loading and towing capacity increased, this model based on the FM's platform, saw significant modifications in all areas to better fit construction work.

The new central towing device can handle up to 25 tonnes while the new load sensor provides weight load information to the recently updated construction version of the I-Shift gearbox for an optimized gear sequence and smooth start. The FMX is available with either a 11L or 13L diesel with power outputs ranging from 330 hp to 500 hp.
