Volvo FM is a heavy truck range produced by Swedish Volvo Truck Corporation. Introduced in 1998 as FM7, FM10 and FM12 production continues with the second generation of FM range. FM stands for Forward control Medium height cab where the numbers denominate an engine capacity in litres.
Wheelbase range from 3 to 6.7 m are given the option, the engine is equipped with D9B engine, D13B engine, D13A engine, and four cab models are available.

VOLVO FM 2008 - 2010

 

In 2008 year, Volvo Trucks unveiled their latest generation FM Series. Aimed for the heavy-duty regional-haul segment, and was available with a choice of 4X2 and 6X2 axle configurations. It was designed for distribution/construction operations and refuse applications and came with either a 6.4L (300 to 380 hp) or a 12.8L (360 to 480 hp) diesel engine. An 11-liter unit was also available, delivering a 390 and 430 hp respectively.

VOLVO FM 2010 - Present

 

In March 2010, the Swedish truck company announced the release of the new FM Series. This actually marks the introduction of an updated facelift in both terms of styling, engine lineup and interior features. The exterior changes include new front grill, headlights and air-intake, inspired by the Volvo FH range. Both D13 and D11 engines can be chosen now in their EEV (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicle) variant, while the I-Shift transmission has been upgraded and achieves a 3 percent reduction in fuel consumption.
